Review of “& Juliet” (Mirvish)

Monday July 11th, 2022

Had the opportunity of attending the official premiere of the musical comedy “& Juliet” (Mirvish) https://tinyurl.com/5n6w23x6  at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre (300 King St W) created by the Emmy winning writer from “Schitt’s Creek,”   David West Read.   The musical is about “what if” there was more to the story of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet where Juliet does not take her life but looks to find herself a new future.  This is by far one of the funniest, cleverly written, toe tapping, special effect filled shows that I’ve seen in a long time.  Not only is this a great continuing story but it also addresses many phobias in todays society, has a very diverse cast, incredible dance numbers and of course the music, several number one hits smartly placed throughout this musical  including songs by Britney Spears, Katy Perry & Adam Lambert.  It’s a complete show from beginning to end and it wouldn’t surprise me after you’ve seen “& Juliet”  for the 1st time, you’ll want to go back to see it again.
