Review: Virginia Gay’s CYRANO (Mirvish)

Sunday March 22nd, 2026

Had the pleasure of attending media night for Virginia Gay’s CYRANO   https://www.mirvish.com/shows/cyrano  at Toronto’s CAA Theatre, 651 Yonge Street. The story is based on  the 1897 French play Cyrano de Bergerac written  by Edmond Rostand .  The classic original story is about Cyrano (who has a very large nose) is secretly in love with his cousin, Roxane. When she reveals her love for another man, Cyrano agrees to help him woo her,  pouring his own soul into another man’s courtship. But with Virginia Gay’s CYRANO, the difference is it has a gender bender theme where the main characters are women. Virginia Gay’s CYRANO is brilliant, no special effects,  just great acting. There’s not only a lot of audience participation but also you have to keep a keen eye though-out the 1 hour 30 minute (no intermission) show on how the props help tell the story.  I already said it earlier but i’ll say it again.  Virginia Gay’s CYRANO is brilliant and a must see.  I give it 5 stars out of 5.  Virginia Gay’s CYRANO runs from March 14 – April 5, 2026.
