The 2018 Socan Awards  www.socan.ca/  took place Monday June 18th, 2018 at Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel  www.sheratontoronto.com/    .  Socan is a performing rights society that licenses the public performance and communication of the world’s repertoire of copyright-protected musical works in Canada and then distributes royalties to its members and affiliated international societies.  The Socan awards honoured songwriters, composers and music publishers who create and promote some of the most successful song ever released.  Some of those honoured included Burton Cummings, Sarah McLachlan, Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Daniel Caesar, Frank Dukes and Our Lady Peace.  Rudy Blair Entertainment Media  rudyblairmedia.com  was on the neon carpet to Chat with Burton Cummings  https://www.burtoncummings.com/  LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD , Juno award nominee Alysha Brilla   https://www.alyshabrilla.com/ , and  Brad Rempel of High Valley  www.highvalleymusic.com/   along with Jenson Vaughan for the High Valley hit “I Be, U Be”  COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS .
