He’s been one of the worlds most famous comedian.  Cedric the Entertainer iamcedric.com/category/news/ been an actor on the big screen, a radio talk show host, game show host and once again, returning to the small screen to star in his new television comedy series The Neighborhood https://www.globaltv.com/theneighborhood/ premiering tonight(Monday October 1st, 2018 at 8pm on Global Television https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYyoI5qfhls .  The Neighborhood is about  what happens when a white suburban type family moves into a black tough LA neighbourhood and one of the neighbours (Cedric the Entertainer) isn’t; very happy about it.  Cedrick the Entertainer was in Toronto recently to promote his new comedy and he told me this show is defiantly a throwback from the comedy shows and characters from the 70’s like Archie Bunker of All In The Family, Fred Sanford of Sanford And Son and George Jefferson of The Jeffersons.  He says “Taking on the roll as Calvin, those characters came up to me right away.  It’s fun to play that opposite. People said they didn’t want me to be mean but I explained I’m not mean, I’m a little cantankerous, set in my ways, I’m pushing back just a bit until i actually learn something. “ But  he hopes his character will be spoken about 20 years from now in the same respect as those other past iconic anti roll models.  Originally he didn’t want to do the show and had to push to help change the idea behind the series.  The Neibourhood actually was the experience of the shows creator Jim Reynolds  but he felt it only spoke of what Reynolds went through and didn’t express enough of the black experience.  Once they were able to find the right balance Cedric was on board.  He also added The Neibourhood represents  growth on television and it’s good to see more multicultural casts and more blending pot stories.
