“Enough of the perfect people who have everything, show us a show about us” and “it’s fun to play a roll I can relate too and really relate to being average or below average “ are just some of the quotes that Actress Sarayu R. Blue describes her new comedy sitcom I Feel Bad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0Vg5dpyno8&t=42s . I Feel Bad follows the life of a women trying to live a certain standard of life while juggling being a mom, wife, daughter and career woman. Sarayu and Actor Paul Adelstein(who plays her husband) stopped by in Toronto over the summer to promote the new show. What also makes this sitcom different from others is it celebrates diversity within the family structure as Sarayu’s background is South Asian, while her husband is Caucasian. Sarayu says presenting an interracial relationship on televisions shows how modern something like that is today. She also told me the main character originally was not written as South Asian ,but the network wanted her to star in it and had no problem in making the family interracial. She adds that would not have happened two years ago. But Paul reminded us that this is still and edgy funny different but relatable kind of comedy for example, when he discovers his wife had a sex dream about someone else the only thing she can say back to him is…”sorry”. I Feel Bad debates tonight (Wednesday, September 19, 2018) at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global Television (Special preview back to back) https://www.globaltv.com/ .
