Had the pleasure of attending the opening/media afternoon fun, for the one man stage comedy performance of Made In Italy(Mirvish)   https://www.mirvish.com/shows/made-in-italy at Toronto’s CAA Theatre 651 Yonge Street.   A little background, Made In Italy was created by Edmonton native stage actor, theatre director and playwright Farren Timoteo and it originally premiered in 2016.  The story was inspired by  Farren Timoteo father, a 1st generation Canadian Italian son to immigrants growing up in Alberta back in the 1970’s. It reflects the fathers old traditional Italian ways conflicting as the son becoming an adult and his ambition to be a vocal performer. When I first heard about Made In Italy I thought it would be a Canadian Jersey Shore wannabe rip-off.  It is far from that.  It’s funny, and very entertaining,  blending old school Italian phrases and traditional lifestyle with 70’s ambition with Rocky and John Travolta as inspiration.  Farren Timoteo is excellent on stage and he plays many characters at a blink of an eye with high energy (this show is 2 hours 10 minutes including intermission).  Made In Italy is non stop fun and made for everyone.  I give this stage show 3 and a half stars out of 5.  Made In Italy runs from May 24 – June 8, 2025.
