Had an amazing evening attending media night for Moulin Rouge! The Musical   https://www.mirvish.com/shows/moulin-rouge-the-musical  at Toronto’s CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre, 244 Victoria Street.  The 10 Tony Award-winning jukebox musical is based on the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film, set in 1899 Paris.  The story, is about an American songwriter who falls in love with the star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub.  His rival is a shady wealthy Duke of Monroth who wants complete  control including the Moulin Rouge and his love interest.  I’ve seen Moulin Rouge! The Musical three times and I still have the same reaction, decadent, glamorous and spectacular.  The  production and stage special effects are dazzling, dance numbers are high energy and sexy and the story is a rollercoaster ride of emotions .  But the real stars are the songs. There are over over 70 pop songs used including “Your Song,” “Roxanne,” “Material Girl”. and of course “Lady Marmalade”.    Moulin Rouge! The Musical is sexy fun and a definite must see whether it’s your first time or experienced it in the past like me. I give  Moulin Rouge! The Musical four and a half stars out of five.  The 2 hours 35 minutes (includes intermission) musical runs from April 22 – May 10, 2026.
