I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening of “Cirque du Soleil” new show “Luzia” at Toronto’s Port Lands 51 Commissioners Street. The big tent was up and I ran into a lot of local celebrities, politicians, and former colleges including Councillor Norm Kelly, Comedian Sean Cullen, Mike Robins of the Country Music Duo “Autumn Hill,Former 680news reporter now CTV anchor Colin D’mello and from the CHFI morning show Ian “The General” MacArthur. But as much as it was great to see old friends I could’t to see this show. I’ve been a fan of the Cirque franchise for a long time because the shows are so creative and I never know what to expect. This show was inspired by the cultural of Mexico. The music written by Canadian composer Simon Carpentier and is a mix of electro-pop , Mexican and Latin American sounds. I don’t want to give away too much because I think half the fun is being surprised at what you will experience and yes this “is” an experience. The special effects include waterfall water art, one of the fastest and skilled jugglers I’ve ever seen, a gentleman who can bend his body in some of the most unusual ways , acrobats re defining stunts and of course the music is just as important. This is a beautiful, moving and amazing show that it doesn’t define the age you should be to see this. If you don’t see ” Cirque du Soleil Luzia” then you’ve missed one of the BEST shows of the year to come to Toronto.
