“Rush-Time Stand Still” Review

Thursday November 3rd 2016

The music documentary RUSH-TIME STAND STILL is in Cineplex Theatres today.  Rudy Blair Entertainment Media has a review:

A few weeks ago I had to chance to see this documentary about one of the greatest, influential and original bands to come out of the great white north RUSH. Now this film will be out on the big screen for you to experience Thursday November 3rd 2016. And using the word “experience” is exactly what you get. A true, from the bottom to the top,Rock N Roll story about three buddies from Toronto(Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart ) who, by selling over 40 million albums world wide and touring Mother Earth several times, made their wildest dreams come true. “RUSH-TIME STAND STILL” is based and filmed around their “possibly” final tour “R40” in 2015(celebrating their 40th anniversary). Not only do we see what it’s like backstage for Rush getting ready for a concert, but also their emotional bond to each other, their road crew, other bands and musicians, but most importantly their fans. True die hard fans who love these guys like family(so who and what is “RUSHCON”?).  You also get to learn about their origin, how they got started, how they grew as a band, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also why the “R40” Tour could be their last.  Oh and don’t let me forget the music, lots and lots of music recorded live just the way it should be heard. There’s also a bonus feature attached to this called I’m Rush | A Salute to Kings.   It’s a 20 minute in-depth discussion segment with some of rocks most influential characters including Gene Simmons (KISS), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart), Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy) and the band’s producer Nick Raskulinecz, sharing their unique stories about 40 years of Rush. “RUSH-TIME STAND STILL” is a look back at a great band through the eyes of the band members and their fans. It’s funny, poetic and sometimes a little sad. I do find it ironic they use “Time Stands Still” in the title of this documentary because as we all know the clock is always ticking for all of us including one of musics greatest musicians. Check out “RUSH-TIME STAND STILL and re-live or experience for the 1st time this really good home grown band.
